- ODS Red-Line
-
- The ODS Red-line range of non-contact sensors use the optical triangulation
principle. A collimated laser beam forms a visible light spot onto the
surface of the object being measured, and the angle which the light
spot emits is detected and received by a high resolution CCD camera,
making it possible to calculate the measured distance.
-
- All ODS sensors have a built-in automatic light intensity control
which by continuously working with optimal measuring light, the unique
measuring capabilities of the ODS range are achieved. These compact
sensors are unaffected by large variations in surface, colour or structure.
This means that the DSE sensors can be used on almost any surface; from
liquids and soft materials to paper, plastic, wood, metal and stone.
Thickness measurement is achieved by using two sensors which when connected
together, automatically synchronise as master and slave. By adjusting
the updating frequency of both sensors, it is possible to measure semi-transparent
objects.
-
- The ODS Red-line series has been developed to offer high accuracy
combined with long standoff distances that are demanded in heavy industry.
The Red-line range offers a comprehensive Select version as well as
the 2-Select and HT 'High Temperature' versions. The ODS 500, 700, 900
and ODS 1100 are designed with the same "ODS 200 type" serial protocol
and can thus be interconnected for thickness measurement regardless
of different standoff distances.
-
- The ODS range are designed as a self-contained unit with all components
fitting inside a rugged steel housing that measures 230 x 70 x 200mm
and weighs 3.6kg. The ODS sensor range has a protection design grade
to IEC IP65.
-
- Typical application examples for the ODS sensors include; filling
operations where the levels are monitored, constant tension control,
monitoring vibration or wear on a rotating object and, in a rolling
process where thickness measurement is monitored.
-
-
- ODS Red-line Select Models (all ODS Red-Line models are Select
versions)
-
- Programmable version of the ODS range with 4 modes of operation:
- - Group mode - offering averaging after filtering out zero values
- - Stop & Go - measuring activity via RS232
- - Level mode - will output distance reading that are reversed
- - Extended thickness mode - doubles the measuring range at half the
resolution (when compared to standard thickness mode)
-
- The ODS Select sensors are programmed with the PC software supplied
with the sensor. The program receives data from the ODS Select Model
and displays the measured distance on the screen. When the sensor is
specially hardwired the same program will be able to send data to the
sensor. The instructions given are stored in the sensor memory and are
used every time power is switched on until the ODS Select is reprogrammed.
Select models and Standard model will automatically turn into thickness
(difference) measurement mode when they are connected to an ODS sensor
of the same type and model. No additional control box is needed.
-
- The select models provide a choice between double measurement range
with half resolution or full resolution with standard measuring range.
The user can define a number of consecutive measurements to be a Group
of values. The sensors in this Mode is able to update the Group with
a new measurment result at 1kHz and output the Group average at the
same rate. Furthermore the user can instruct the sensor to disregard
up to a certain number of void measurements with null-values in the
Group, and have the output calculated as the average of the remaining
values in the Group.
-
-
- ODS 2-Select Models (versions available for all ODS Red-Line
models)
-
- The high performance version of the ODS range, offering the benefits
of increased measuring performance by run time time programmability
on:
- - moving targets
- - angled surfaces
- - colourful surfaces
- - shiny/difficult surfaces
- - 'transparent' surfaces
-
- The 2-Select sensors obtain higher performance compared to the Standard
models by:
- - Operating at twice the measuring and output frequency (eg 2000Hz)
- - Utilising mathematically optimised intensity control of the laser
light
- - Offering elimanation of light penetrating into partly transparent
surfaces
- - Providing opportunity for changing the sensor parameters during
operation
- - Providing "STOP and GO" functions to meaure activity via
RS232 in all modes
- - Providing "Level - Mode" output, where the measuring results
are "reversed"
- - Providing a serial RS232 output as well as an analogue 4-20mA current
signal
-
-
- ODS HT "High Temperature" Models (high target temperature
versions for all ODS Red-Line models)
-
- The HT models are designed for target surfaces with high temperatures
up to 1200°C. The ODS HT sensors are especially useful for use on
very hot objects such as hot rolled steel or molten metals. The HT models
are like other ODS sensors and designed to give good measuring accuracy
over a large measuring range. Almost all ODS Red-line sensors offered
in the HT versions give the best compromise between measuring range
and accuracy. Many heavy industry applications require either thickness
or width measurement. The ODS HT models have the same advantage od automatic
configuration for thickness inbuilt in all ODS models. Any two identical
ODS HT sensor's will form a complete measuring system for thickness
and width. The HT Select model can filter and average the digital values
before being output in 4-20mA form.
-
-
- ODS Thickness Measurement
-
- All ODS distance sensor's will automatically turn into a Master &
Slave part of a thickness measuring system, when connected to an identical
ODS sensor. The 'master' sensor reads the digital distance data send
from the 'slave' sensor over the RS232 serial interface, and after taking
its own distance information into account, it will output the change
in thickness in its calcualated digital form as well as a converted
analogue signal. A couple of ODS sensors will measure thickness, width
or difference without any control box or special calibration from the
factory. This unique characteristic of the ODS sensors are available
in all models of the Red-Line series.
